Cracked concrete is a big problem in a food processing plant. Our customer came to us looking for a solution below a large fryer that was putting out 250 – 400 degree temperatures on a regular basis, and expelling hot grease onto the floor during its processing.
The floor below the machine was cracked and falling apart, and was hard to clean and harboring bacteria. There was only a 2-3 foot clearance for us to work. It was a safety issue for their employees and a quality issue that was sure to get dinged on an audit. Nothing they had tried had worked.
After a thorough assessment of the situation, our team demoed the existing concrete coatings, and installed a 2” 5000 psi cap on the concrete. Then, we troweled in a USDA Approved, 1” urethane cement topping. This urethane topping will provide a 10+ year solution, which significantly exceeds the standard industry of 5 years.
