Our best crew leaders come from within the team, and started as ambitious, hard-working crew members who took initiative to work hard and learn the business.
Crew members are often hired without any specific concrete floor coating or polishing experience, but often have worked in the construction, painting or sandblasting industries. Training takes place mainly on the job, where crew members take on a variety of tasks in a multitude of different industries, environments and situations.
Planning, problem solving, critical thinking and attention to detail are essential skills required of successful crew leaders.
Experienced crew members may have the opportunity to lead a crew on a smaller job as the schedule requires before they become full time crew leaders.
Promotion to a Crew Leader position is not a rapid progression, and takes some time to learn the industry, equipment, materials and to be able to read the floor. Attention to detail, diligence, ability to rally a team to work hard and meet both a time and budget deadline are all characteristics, either inherent or learned, which are required to move into a leadership role.
Training is provided in a classroom setting at times as well.
Our crews work hard. They spend most of their time on the road, working on the job for long shifts and being away from their family and friends – all to make our customers happy with their flooring solutions. Our goal is to take care of our employees, and provide a generous benefit package that, along with their compensation, is attractive and appropriate for the great work they do.
Health Insurance – Employees become eligible on the first of the month following 60 days of employment. Industrial Applications contributes 50% of the individual health care premium for the base plan. Dental Plans are also offered. Life Insurance is provided and is 100% company paid.
A retirement plan is available with Industrial Applications matching up to a 3% contribution. Employees become eligible after 30 days.
Employees are paid weekly via direct deposit, pay card or paper check. They are also paid per diem and travel pay while traveling to out of town jobs. Vacation time is earned after the first year of employment, and the employee is eligible for paid holidays immediately upon hire.
